The Ensemble di Capello was founded in 2013 by Andreas Obermayer and is based in Haar near Munich. The singers come from the greater Munich area and beyond; some of them are also professionally involved in music. The rehearsals are project-related; the choir that is actually needed is made up of a pool of around 50 singers. The Ensemble di Capello has been a registered association since April 2017.
The heart of the ensemble's repertoire is the a cappella literature of the 16th to 21st centuries. In recent years the choir has performed concerts in Haar, Munich, Erding, Germering, Fürstenfeldbruck and Rosenheim. In addition to a cappella concerts with instrumental contributions from the ranks of the choir members, the Ensemble di Capello likes to take the opportunity to cooperate with other ensembles in the vocal and instrumental field. In autumn 2017, for example, Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Elias" was performed together with the Philharmonic Choir Fürstenfeld. The choir has already performed several times with the orchestra "Ensemble Haar", including Bach's "St. John Passion". In 2018, the Ensemble di Capello accepted the invitation of the "Grassauer Blechbläser Ensemble" to perform a joint concert, which received great acclaim at various venues. Here the Ensemble di Capello had the opportunity to present sophisticated a cappella choral music at a high level as well as to offer the audience a rare listening experience in choral works created together with the brass players.
